BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu said second-generation blade batteries and
flash-charging technology has resolved a major EV pain point and drawn strong
domestic and international praise, but current battery capacity is still
insufficient. Capacity is ramping by roughly 20,000-30,000 incremental units per
month, he said, and the company is working around the clock to meet demand. Wang
warned that vehicle sales this year will be determined by battery production.
BYD will concentrate resources on its battery division to fully exploit
blade-battery capacity and expects higher output later this year, with
materially larger volumes next year once the ramp is complete and both domestic
and international markets can be served.
