According to US reports, Ebrahim Azizi, chair of Iran’s parliamentary national
security and foreign policy committee, said in an interview that Iran does not
in principle rule out advancing talks with the US but Washington must change its
current approach and demonstrate sincerity. He said major differences remain on
Iran’s nuclear program and uranium enrichment and that mutual trust is
lacking. Azizi said the US originally promised to immediately unfreeze Iranian
assets but Tehran has seen no sign of that; whether a peace agreement is
possible depends on subsequent US actions.
