EU will permit warships to inspect and seize tankers carrying Russian oil in the
Mediterranean, citing the vessels as dangerous and intended to limit Russia’s
capabilities, officials said. Reports say French and British navies seized a
tanker departing Russia in early June. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin
Jian said Beijing opposes illegal unilateral sanctions that lack UN Security
Council authorized and urged parties to settle disputes through dialogue.
