June 9 — At a routine Foreign Ministry briefing, spokesman Lin Jian declined to
confirm media reports that the U.S. has asked China to resume rare‑earth exports
to Japan, saying such queries should be directed to the relevant Chinese
authorities. He reiterated that China, under law and regulation, prohibits
exports of dual‑use items to Japanese military users, military end‑uses or any
other end‑users/uses that would enhance Japan’s military capability or assist
attempts at nuclear armament.
