Xinfadi data show loose-egg average price at 6.1 yuan/jin on June 7, more than
50% above levels two months earlier and roughly 70% higher YoY (about 3.5
yuan/jin same day last year). A fresh-food platform said the price surge
falling laying-hen inventories and insufficient new supply; market reflects
circulating stocks are low and were tightened further by the May Day holiday.
Given current circulating inventory and production-capacity conditions, the
platform said the high-price regime is unlikely to reverse in the near term.
Since Q2, farmers’ restocking intentions have risen and overall production
capacity is expected to increase by Q4.
