Axios reports Trump said US forces have concluded Iran shot down the US
helicopter that crashed in the Strait of Hormuz and he pledged a military
response. A US official said investigators determined an Iranian drone struck
the helicopter, but officials have not confirmed whether the strike was
deliberate and the probe remains ongoing. The incident occurred amid US–Iran
talks and one day after Trump helped broker a renewed Israel–Iran ceasefire.
CENTCOM said two crews were rescued around 7:30 p.m. ET, roughly two hours after
the crash near the Omani coast; the personnel were recovered after a prolonged
search by a US Navy unmanned surface vessel, the first at-sea rescue by such a
system.
