Samsung Electronics (South Korea) to invest VND39 trillion (about $1.5 bln) to
build a semiconductor test plant in an industrial park 60 km north of Hanoi;
construction under way and plant due to start production in Nov 2027. It will be
Samsung's first chip test plant in Vietnam, focusing on mature chips; planned
annual capacity 153.3 bln Gb DRAM and 255.6 bln Gb NAND. Investment was approved
by Vietnamese authorities in March; Samsung may allocate up to $2.5 bln of
project profits toward a potential second plant. Over 200 Samsung engineers and
staff have worked on the site since April.
