US Department of Transportation said US carriers' aviation fuel costs rose 78%
YoY to about $6.5 bln in April. Costs were 26% higher than March while fuel
consumption declined 2.6% month-on-month. April fuel averaged $4.11/gal, up
$1.81 from April 2025. IATA projects airline fuel spending to increase from
roughly $252 bln in 2025 to about $350 bln this year, with fuel near one-third
of operating costs.
