EU member states are divided on how and when to press for talks between Russia
and Ukraine, EU high representative for foreign affairs and security policy
Kallas said on the 8th, urging all efforts to enable dialogue while stressing
Europe’s core security interests must be respected but adding now is not the
right time for negotiations. Some members say conditions for serious talks with
Moscow are not yet in place. Separately, leaders of the UK, France and Germany
met Ukraine President Zelenskiy in London on the 7th and issued a joint
statement backing direct dialogue between Kyiv and Moscow.
