Customs statistics director Lu Daliang said China implemented a comprehensive
zero-tariff measure for African diplomatic partners from May. In the first five
months, China’s imports and exports with African countries totaled 1.14 tln
yuan, up 18.2% YoY — the first time the period has exceeded 1 tln yuan. Monthly
imports and exports have exceeded 4 tln yuan for three consecutive months
through May. In May alone, China’s imports from Africa were 95.13 bln yuan, up
15% YoY and marking a ninth consecutive month of growth.
