The dollar index, which measures the US dollar against six major currencies, slipped 0.03% to 100.042 at the New York close on the 8th. EUR/USD rose to 1.1528 from 1.1523; GBP/USD to 1.3339 from 1.3337. USD/JPY was 160.26 versus 160.17 prior close; USD/CHF 0.7979 from 0.7962; USD/CAD 1.3956 from 1.3949. USD/SEK fell to 9.4401 from 9.4735.

NFIB data: May small‑business confidence fell 0.6 points to 95.3, below the 52‑year mean of 98.0. The NFIB uncertainty index rose 3 points to 91, well above its historical mean of 68; NFIB attributed the jump largely to the Iran war’s impact on global oil and commodity supplies and said earlier resolution would speed a return to normal.
