Southbound funds were net sellers of CNY8.61bn today. Via Shanghai Stock Connect, Tracker Fund of Hong Kong (TraHK) and Wuyi Shijie were net sold HKD6.68bn and HKD83m, while Tencent Holdings was the top net buy at HKD1.03bn. Via Shenzhen Stock Connect, TraHK and China Southern Hang Seng TECH ETF were net sold HKD4.74bn and HKD2.60bn, with Kingboard Chemical Group the largest net buy at HKD1.12bn.

EU member states are divided on how and when to press for talks between Russia and Ukraine, EU high representative for foreign affairs and security policy Kallas said on the 8th, urging all efforts to enable dialogue while stressing Europe’s core security interests must be respected but adding now is not the right time for negotiations. Some members say conditions for serious talks with Moscow are not yet in place. Separately, leaders of the UK, France and Germany met Ukraine President Zelenskiy in London on the 7th and issued a joint statement backing direct dialogue between Kyiv and Moscow.
