June 9 — Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a routine briefing that Huangyan Island is China’s inherent territory and that China has indisputable sovereignty over the island and adjacent waters. Responding to a Bloomberg question about a floating device near Huangyan Island that appeared then disappeared, Lin said China’s activities there, including scientific research, are the lawful rights of a sovereign state and urged the Philippines to stop maritime infringements, provocations and publicity.
