At the open on Tuesday June 9, China's Shanghai Composite Index rose 18.2 points, or 0.46%, to 3,977.54; Shenzhen Composite was up 171.36 points, or 1.16%, at 14,992.55. The CSI 300 index advanced 29.81 points, or 0.63%, to 4,743.45. ChiNext gained 53.91 points, or 1.41%, to 3,865.69, while the STAR 50 Index rose 33.66 points, or 2.11%, to 1,630.23.

Iran's UN envoy Amir Saeid Iravani said on Monday Tehran and Washington are still negotiating a peace agreement, expressed optimism a final deal could be reached "soon," and replied "we hope so" when asked if an agreement might be concluded before the end of June. Iravani said the current ceasefire is comprehensive and applies across the region, including Lebanon — a characterization Israel disputes. Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu said Israel has decided not to take further action against Iran but will continue strikes against Hezbollah.
