U.S. Vice President Vance said on Tuesday the Washington–Tehran nuclear
agreement under negotiation is "a big success" for the American people
regardless of whether Israel approves. He acknowledged the U.S. and Israel share
many interests but have some differences, and said the U.S. primary objective
remains preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Vance asserted that
since Trump’s return to the White House the administration has created space for
a deal superior to the 2015 agreement reached under Obama. He added that over
the past 18 months the government has built the conditions for a long-term
solution, which Israel may or may not welcome, but which he said is in the U.S.
national interest.
