China is tightening fertilizer export curbs amid global price pressures caused by the Iran war disrupting nutrient trade. Sources said the government has ordered exporters to stop outbound shipments of nitrogen-potassium fertilizer blends and reiterated existing urea export restrictions, dashing hopes for new sales quotas. These measures effectively halt outflows of most fertilizer types, including compound varieties, while ammonium sulfate—accounting for about half of China’s fertilizer shipments last year—remains unaffected. China’s National Development and Reform Commission, General Administration of Customs, and Ministry of Commerce did not respond to requests for comment.
