Six U.S. allies—U.K., Italy, France, Germany, Canada, and Japan—issued a joint
statement supporting a potential coalition to ensure safe passage through the
Strait of Hormuz. The statement condemned Iran’s attacks on commercial vessels
and infrastructure and called for Tehran to cease threats and mine-laying.
Allies expressed readiness for preparatory planning but have not committed naval
forces. The U.K. sent officers to CENTCOM and deployed two warships to
coordinate with the U.S. for a potential joint effort.
