China’s Ministry of Commerce said it has initiated two trade barrier investigations into US practices, citing evidence that US actions in trade, technology exports and investment restrictions are disrupting global industrial and supply chains. The ministry said the measures may harm Chinese firms’ trade interests and could violate WTO rules and bilateral economic agreements. The investigations will focus on US actions affecting global supply chains and barriers to green product trade, with further steps to be taken based on the findings, the ministry added.

China’s most futures contracts were mixed at the open, with styrene, benzene and butadiene rubber rising more than 3% and fuel oil up over 2%. Silver fell more than 5%, polysilicon dropped over 4%, while platinum, palladium and gold declined nearly 3%.
