The operator of KuCoin agreed to pay $500,000 to settle claims by the Commodity
Futures Trading Commission that it ran an unregistered offshore platform
allowing US users to trade derivatives. Peken Global Ltd. neither admitted nor
denied wrongdoing and must block US access without registration. The CFTC
dropped claims against affiliated entities. The firm previously pleaded guilty
to operating an unlicensed money-transmitting business and agreed to nearly $300
million in penalties.
