Iran and Oman are finalizing a protocol to regulate maritime navigation in the
Strait of Hormuz during peacetime, according to Kazem Gharibabadi in an
interview with Sputnik. He said recent US-Israeli actions disrupted safe passage
and that wartime conditions make peacetime rules unrealistic. Gharibabadi stated
vessels linked to “aggressors and their supporters” could face restrictions. He
added that, under normal conditions, ships would coordinate with Iranian and
Omani authorities and obtain permits to ensure safety, security and
environmental compliance.
