President Donald Trump said a meeting with Iran could take place over the
weekend, adding that both sides have “a lot of agreement” and that Tehran has
“agreed to almost everything,” including commitments on nuclear restrictions. He
said failure to reach a deal could see fighting resume, but expressed confidence
an agreement is likely, which he said would lower oil prices and inflation.
Trump also indicated he may extend the ceasefire if needed.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed a temporary 10-day ceasefire
with Lebanon, stating Israel’s key demand remains the dismantling of Hezbollah
and that Israeli forces will maintain an extensive security zone. Oil prices
pared earlier gains following the remarks.
