The European Union is expected to clarify that European airlines may use Jet
A-type fuel, commonly used in the U.S., to mitigate supply disruptions caused by
the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, alongside Europe’s standard Jet A-1 fuel.
It will also confirm that ticket prices cannot be increased after sale. Airlines
for Europe, representing carriers including Lufthansa, Air France-KLM, and IAG,
had urged approval of Jet A imports. The European Commission is set to state
there are no regulatory barriers, though logistics system users may need to
agree on any fuel-grade changes.
