U.S. President Donald Trump said he was honored to pay a state visit to China
and described U.S.–China relations as positive, saying he and Chinese President
Xi Jinping have maintained the longest and strongest relationship between
leaders of the two countries, according to Xinhua.
Trump said Xi is a great leader and China is a great country, adding that he has
deep respect for Xi and the Chinese people. He described the meeting as a
globally significant one.
He said he is willing to work with Xi to strengthen communication and
cooperation, properly manage differences, and “open the best U.S.–China
relationship in history,” while building a more promising future for both
countries.
