Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi confirmed Xi Jinping will visit the US this
autumn, marking his first state visit in more than a decade, at the invitation
of President Donald Trump. Trump said the two leaders could meet three more
times this year and noted Xi invited him to APEC in Shenzhen in November and
expressed interest in attending the G20 summit in Miami in December. Both sides
agreed to maintain communication on arrangements for further interactions, while
emphasizing continued head-of-state diplomacy amid unresolved strategic and
trade tensions.
