Ahead of the 618 shopping festival, Apple’s official flagship store on Tmall has
cut prices for the iPhone 17 Pro series by 1,000 yuan across the board,
triggering strong sales momentum after the discount, Shanghai Securities News
reported.
Tmall data showed searches for “iPhone” on Taobao and Tmall surged sevenfold
versus normal levels within three days of launch, with the iPhone 17 Pro series
topping sales in the 6,000–10,000 yuan smartphone segment.
The report said rising memory chip costs are expected to keep storage prices
elevated at least until next year, making the 618 period—boosted by platform
subsidies and government consumption incentives—a key purchasing window.
Following Apple’s move, Huawei and Xiaomi also announced price cuts, with
Huawei’s Mate X6 discounted by 3,000 yuan and Xiaomi’s 15 Ultra reduced by 1,500
yuan.
