China has set a nationwide control target of 37.5 million breeding sows under a
new round of hog production capacity regulation, with quotas to be allocated to
provinces based on regional conditions, according to people familiar with the
matter cited by Cailian Press.
At a national hog industry regulation meeting on May 18, authorities also
outlined multiple mandatory control measures and assessment mechanisms, and said
they would strictly investigate aggressive capacity expansion that runs counter
to policy guidance.
