Donald Trump on his China trip as companies sought relief from Beijing-imposed
restrictions and market barriers. Tesla aimed to unblock Chinese export curbs on
solar manufacturing equipment, while Nvidia awaited approval for H200 chip sales
and Boeing pursued aircraft deals. China also eased progress on Citigroup’s
securities application. Peter Navarro, White House adviser, told CNBC the
executives were viewed by China as “useful idiots,” while the executives
publicly praised meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
