The U.S. military fired more than 200 THAAD interceptors and over 100 SM-3 and SM-6 missiles defending Israel during hostilities with Iran, consuming roughly half of the Pentagon’s THAAD inventory, according to Defense Department assessments cited by The Washington Post. Israel reportedly used fewer than 100 Arrow interceptors and about 90 David’s Sling interceptors. U.S. officials said Washington absorbed most of the ballistic missile defense burden under a prearranged framework, raising concerns about U.S. readiness in Asia and other theaters. Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said both countries “carried the defensive burden equitably” during Operation Epic Fury.
