Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir departed for Tehran on Friday
for meetings with senior Iranian officials focused on regional issues and
indirect Iran-U.S. negotiations that Pakistan has helped facilitate. Pakistani
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had already held talks in Tehran earlier this
week. A senior Pakistani official told CBS News the discussions had advanced
negotiations “in an important direction.” U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio
said Friday there had been “a little bit of movement” in the talks.
