China’s domestic smartphone shipments rose 2.8% year over year to 25.73 million units in April, according to data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology. Of the total, 5G phone shipments increased 24.4% to 24.74 million units, accounting for 96.1% of overall shipments. For the first four months of 2026, total smartphone shipments fell 8.6% to 86.54 million units, while 5G phone shipments slipped 0.9% to 80.2 million units.
