On May 28, at its regular monthly press briefing the Ministry of Natural
Resources released and explained the Guiding Opinions on Accelerating
High-Quality Development of Marine Drugs and Functional Products. Wang Xiaoyang,
deputy director of the Department of Consumer Goods Industry at the Ministry of
Industry and Information Technology, said MIIT is expediting preparation of the
"15th Five-Year Plan for Pharmaceutical Industry" and is arranging to accelerate
the development of "innovative medicines", "inclusive medicines",
"digital-intelligence medicines" and "open medicines". The plan will designate
marine drugs and functional products as priority development areas and, through
improving top-level design, will further clarify development direction, specify
development tasks, and provide clear guidance for the industry's high-quality
development.
