As China’s commercial space industry accelerates toward large-scale development,
the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area has added another strategic
industrial layout. Invested in and developed by Guangzhou Construction Group,
Phase I of the Guangzhou Aerospace Town project broke ground today (28th) on
Xiji Island in Huangpu District, Guangzhou. The site covers 574,100 sq m at a
key node of the Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong–Macao Science and Technology
Innovation Corridor, is riverfront with port access, and will include two
5,000-ton-class berths to support transport of large aerospace equipment and
high-end manufacturing. The project will prioritize reusable space transport
systems, satellite manufacturing and applications, and intends to build a full
commercial-space industrial-chain ecosystem to promote deep integration of the
industrial chain, innovation chain and capital chain. Zhongke Yuhang has already
established a presence; Taisheng Aerospace and other key industry-chain firms
are accelerating cooperation, and an initial industrial-cluster effect is
beginning to emerge.
