May 28 — MAO / CHINA said at a regular press briefing that the EU should take a comprehensive, objective view of China-EU trade ties and honor its free-trade commitments. Responding to EU officials’ comments that the bloc must balance its trade relationship with China, she said trade is a two-way choice and China does not deliberately pursue a trade surplus with Europe. China is closely monitoring EU moves and will take necessary measures to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
