An industry insider close to Hisense said recent coordination talks between LG
Electronics and Hisense executives over business restructuring — including the
reported possibility of LG selling its TV division — were routine exchanges and
that other reports are speculative. In late March TCL Electronics signed an
agreement with Sony to form a joint venture that will take over Sony’s TV and
home-audio hardware business, with TCL Electronics as majority owner. Hisense
previously acquired Toshiba’s TV operations. Analysts expect Chinese firms to
further increase their share of the global TV market. Omdia consumer-electronics
analyst Zhang Bing said a Hisense acquisition of LG’s TV unit is unlikely,
noting LG ranked second by industry revenue in 2025 (behind Samsung) and was
fourth by TV shipments last year after Samsung, TCL and Hisense, but he did not
rule out resource-sharing or cooperation between LG and Chinese OEMs/brands in
the TV supply chain.
