Kenyan High Court on May 29 issued an interim injunction blocking the
government, in cooperation with the US or other foreign governments or agencies,
from establishing or activating any Ebola-related isolation, quarantine or
treatment facilities. The court also barred the government from receiving,
transporting or assisting the entry of Ebola contacts or infected persons into
Kenya until the case is concluded. The order comes after US reports on May 28
said an isolation ward set up by the US in Kenya was due to be put into use on
May 29 to house American citizens considered at risk of Ebola. Regional Ebola
transmission remains ongoing and Kenya and the US say they are strengthening
public-health coordination.
