According to the Financial Times, BANK OF ENGLAND'S governor BAILEY said a 60-day ceasefire would help address the issue but would not fully resolve it.

PBOC conducted CNY 123.0 bln of 7-day reverse repos today; CNY 153.0 bln of 7-day reverse repos matured, producing a net daily withdrawal of CNY 30.0 bln. For the week the PBOC executed CNY 908.9 bln of reverse repos; with CNY 500.0 bln of 1‑year MLF and CNY 304.5 bln of reverse repos maturing, the net weekly withdrawal was CNY 104.4 bln.

The Hong Kong government published the Stamp Duty (Amendment) (No.2) Bill 2026 in the Gazette, specifying that stamp duty on RMB-counter trades of dual-counter securities will be calculated and paid in RMB. The measure is aimed at boosting turnover and liquidity in RMB counters and reinforcing Hong Kong’s role as an offshore RMB hub; the bill will be tabled for first reading at LegCo on June 10.
