CENTCOM said on May 29 it will conduct operations near the Strait of Hormuz and, citing self‑defense, may strike vessels involved in or supporting the laying of sea mines. CENTCOM said Iran is still attempting to obstruct demining and safe transit, and any vessel found participating in minelaying could be targeted. It added U.S. forces are continuing maritime blockade measures against Iran and, as of May 29, had forced 115 commercial vessels to alter course.

Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket exploded during a static-fire test on the evening of May 28 local time. NASA Administrator Isaacman said the agency has been notified, will work with Blue Origin to fully investigate the anomaly, assess effects on near-term missions and restore launch capability as soon as possible. NASA added it will update whether the incident affects the agency-led Artemis lunar program or plans for a lunar base.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent, asked how to maintain the U.S. dollar's reserve-currency status, said the situation has not changed.
