CENTCOM said on May 29 it will conduct operations near the Strait of Hormuz and,
citing self‑defense, may strike vessels involved in or supporting the laying of
sea mines. CENTCOM said Iran is still attempting to obstruct demining and safe
transit, and any vessel found participating in minelaying could be targeted. It
added U.S. forces are continuing maritime blockade measures against Iran and, as
of May 29, had forced 115 commercial vessels to alter course.
