Axios, citing a senior administration official and another person familiar,
reported President Trump asked on Friday for multiple changes to a proposed
agreement his envoys reached with Iran, pressing for stronger provisions on US
access to Iranian nuclear material and tighter timing. The draft memorandum
contains Iran’s pledge not to pursue nuclear weapons but lacks detailed
concessions; it sets a 60-day window to negotiate Iran’s nuclear commitments and
US sanctions relief. The primary market-relevant issues are disposition of
Iran’s existing enriched‑uranium stockpile and limits on further enrichment;
officials said Trump wants to revise how and when the US would obtain material.
He also sought edits to wording on reopening the Strait of Hormuz. The requests
have prompted another round of exchanges that could take several days; officials
said Iran would likely need about three days to respond. Two US officials said
Trump still wants the deal and expects it to be finalized soon, but insisted on
tightening key points.
