China's Ministry of Natural Resources said the National Marine Forecasting
Center on May 31 issued a yellow wave alert. The Central Meteorological
Observatory forecasts Typhoon Rose, the season's sixth system, will drive
giant-to-violent waves in the eastern East China Sea over the next two days; the
southeastern sector is expected to see 4-7m waves by the morning of June 1.
Nearshore areas carry a yellow wave warning; vessels and coastal operators are
advised to take protective and avoidance measures.
