Qiushi magazine (June 1 issue) will publish an article by Chinese Communist
Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping titled "Forward-looking Layout
and Development of Future Industries." Xi orders tech innovation to lead, saying
the scale of technological breakthroughs largely determines the speed, breadth
and depth of future-industry development; he urges leveraging the advantages of
a new whole-of-nation system, adhering to "industry sets the questions, science
answers," boosting technology support and leadership capacity, stepping up
efforts to tackle key core technologies in priority fields, strengthening basic
research with strategic, forward-looking and systematic planning, and
accelerating commercialization and application of scientific and technological
results.
