At the open, China’s main onshore futures were mixed: Europe-bound container freight jumped over 4%, eggs rose more than 3%, and plastics, SHFE gold, coking coal and coke gained over 1%. On the downside, Soybean No.1 and pulp fell more than 1%, while benzene, SHFE zinc and SHFE nickel slipped about 1%.

China's National Healthcare Security Administration (NHSA) said it is continuing a nationwide 2026 campaign targeting illegal activity in the medical-insurance drug sector and, from May 14, 2026, has conducted spot inspections of designated retail pharmacies for improper use of medical insurance funds. The NHSA released four representative cases uncovered in the inspections to reinforce deterrence and compliance.
