Prime Minister Starmer will on Monday be forced to publish hundreds of private communications between disgraced former UK ambassador to the US Peter Mandelson and government members, disclosures that could further imperil his already precarious premiership. After Mandelson was sacked last year, the Starmer government — under parliamentary pressure — will release texts and emails among ministers, advisers and senior officials related to Mandelson. Starmer appointed Mandelson ambassador to the US in February 2025; Mandelson served seven months before being sacked after revelations of ties to Epstein.
