The union at South Korean internet services provider Kakao has called a
four-hour strike on June 10 after pay and job-security negotiations collapsed
last month. The union framed the action as a partial, preliminary warning and
said it could expand if talks do not make meaningful progress, while
acknowledging the strike could disrupt the widely used KakaoTalk messaging
service. The dispute reflects a wider debate in the South Korean tech sector
over how to share AI-driven gains; Samsung Electronics last month agreed to
distribute 10.5% of operating profit in stock bonuses plus 1.5% in cash.
