Axios reports an adviser to Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri told the
Trump administration that Hezbollah is prepared to agree to an immediate,
comprehensive ceasefire with Israel and has pledged to ensure enforcement.
Fighting in Lebanon is escalating and could jeopardize prospects of ending the
Iran–Israel war, particularly after Prime Minister Netanyahu threatened strikes
on Beirut. Tasnim News Agency reported Iran has suspended US-mediated talks in
protest of Israeli actions in Lebanon. Berri is one of Lebanon’s most powerful
Shia politicians and close to Hezbollah, but US and Israeli officials question
whether he can compel Hezbollah to comply.
