On June 1, President Trump told Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu in a phone call
he was strongly displeased with Israel's military escalation in Lebanon, called
Netanyahu "crazy" and accused him of ingratitude, saying he had helped keep him
out of jail in his corruption trial, two sources said. A US official quoted
Trump as saying "If not for me, you'd be in prison... I've been saving you. Now
everyone hates you. Everyone hates Israel," and warned that bombing Beirut would
further isolate Israel internationally. Another source said Trump, angry, yelled
"What are you doing?" and pressed Netanyahu, who replied "Okay, okay, just make
sure it's done properly."
