At the open, the Dow fell 0.4%, the S&P 500 was down 0.18% and the Nasdaq slipped 0.2%. NVIDIA (NVDA.O) rose 0.6% after saying its Spectrum‑X Ethernet silicon photonics technology is now in full production. Marvell Technology (MRVL.O) jumped 16%; Jensen Huang said he sees it as a potential next trillion‑dollar company. Broadcom (AVGO.O) gained 5% after Morgan Stanley maintained a buy rating and raised its price target. STMicroelectronics climbed 10% after raising its full‑year data center revenue guidance.

On June 1 local time, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said an airstrike on Nabatieh in southern Lebanon on May 31 killed a HEZBOLLAH missile unit commander whom the IDF said helped organize and direct rocket and drone attacks against Israel. The IDF also said it shot down a HEZBOLLAH-launched drone over its area of operations in southern Lebanon.
