On June 2, Iraq's Shiite militia Justice Alliance said it will form committees
to inventory personnel and weapons, sever ties with the Popular Mobilization
Forces (PMF) and transfer weapons to unified state control. The Shiite Imam Ali
Brigade issued a similar statement the same day, saying it will cut links with
PMF bodies, immediately begin inventory and hand over weapons and equipment to
state management. Iraq's parliament first deputy speaker Adnan Feyhan welcomed
the Coordination Framework Alliance's earlier decision and the militias'
announcement to disarm.
