OpenAI founder Altman will present his vision for public-private cooperation in
AI during a Washington visit on Wednesday, including meetings at the White House
and separate sessions with House Speaker Johnson and independent Sen. Sanders.
The trip follows President Trump’s recent call for AI firms to voluntarily
submit advanced models for government review before release and his signing of
an executive order; OpenAI said it welcomed the order as strengthening ties
between AI labs and government but staff, including Chief Global Affairs Officer
Chris Lehane, warned many implementation details remain unclear. Congressional
negotiators are working on a bipartisan AI legislative framework.
