Construction has started on an expansion and renovation at Moding station on the Laos section of the China-Laos railway, the first large-scale capacity upgrade there since the line opened in December 2021. The project is designed to raise border-station train dispatch and cross-border freight handling capacity. Work will proceed in phased, prioritized stages. The Lao-China Railway Company is coordinating the Luang Prabang maintenance center, Vientiane operations center, China Railway Eighth Bureau and China Railway Electrification Bureau to ensure efficient, orderly delivery.
