The UK Met Office said the probability of high temperatures this summer has
increased, with June–August temperatures forecast to be above long-term averages
each month, raising the risk of heatwaves and other high-temperature events.
Authorities have issued this year’s first yellow and amber heat-health alerts.
The Met Office cited global warming and a possible El Nifio as the main drivers
of the seasonal heat outlook.
